FOOD
Japanese families mainly eat turkey on Christmas Day , some also eat it on Christmas Eve depending on their custom. Fried chicken is also eaten on Christmas day . It is one of the busiest time of the year for KFC. People could place orders at their local fast food restaurants in advanced. A traditional Christmas desert is Christmas cake, but its not a rich fruit cake , it is usually a sponge cake with strawberries and whipped cream on it.
TRADITION
The Japanese believe in another gift bringer named hoteshio.Parties are held for the children.Christmas eve is celebrated more than Christmas day is.
Christmas is not a national holiday in japan so businesses and schools are still open.Santa is known as Mr. santa to the others. The most popular carol to sing is silent night. The Christmas tree are all artificial and the are decorated with:small dolls, toys, paper ornaments, gold paper fans, lanterns, and wind chimes.Churches have masses on Christmas eve and their own special services on Christams day.
Decorations
Mistletoe and evergreen wreaths are hung from the ceiling. Tinsel and lights are also hung.Amulets are hung on front doors for good luck. More than 1000 lights are hung throughout the villages. Children exchange birds of peace to remind themselves of the true meaning of Christmas. Lights are also hung in dance halls and in cafes. also they are hung along the streets. they pledge to not have war any more.
